About this Department
The Public Affairs and Religious Liberty (PARL) Department is dedicated to advancing and protecting the God-given universal human right to religious freedom. Its mission is to help ensure that every individual can freely exercise this right, making religious liberty a reality for people everywhere.
Religious liberty includes the right to choose, adopt, or change one's religion or beliefs according to conscience, as well as the freedom to express those beliefs individually or with others through worship, practice, teaching, and witness, while respecting the rights of others. The PARL Department promotes and safeguards these freedoms, placing special emphasis on protecting liberty of conscience.
